2. Overview
Vorpraktiz works without user accounts, without a database of user data, without ads, analytics or tracking, and without externally loaded fonts or scripts. Personal data is processed only in the cases described below.
3. Hosting and visiting the website
The website runs on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (Oracle Corporation) in an EU data centre under a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR). When you visit, the server processes technically necessary data (IP address, time, requested address, browser identifier) to deliver the page. This data is not stored in access logs; application error messages contain no IP addresses and are rotated automatically. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in secure and reliable operation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
4. Cookie
A single cookie is set (__Host-vp_session, up to 180 days). It contains a security token against forged form submissions and - only if you save it - your profile (name, university, programme, areas, skills). The cookie is signed and stays in your browser; the profile is not stored on the server. The cookie is strictly necessary for the features you use (§ 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG); the legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR for the profile and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR for the security token. You can delete the profile under "My profile" or remove the cookie in your browser.
A profile file you upload or download is processed in memory only and not stored.
5. Cover-letter assistant (Groq, USA)
Only if you use the assistant and explicitly consent beforehand, your name, university and programme, areas of interest and skills, and the selected company are sent to Groq, Inc., Mountain View, USA, to generate a draft. The draft is shown only to you and not stored on our server. For storage at Groq see groq.com/privacy-policy.
The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). The transfer to the USA is based on your explicit consent (Art. 49(1)(a) GDPR). There is a risk that the USA does not ensure a level of data protection equivalent to EU law, in particular that US authorities may gain access and legal remedies may be limited. Consent applies to each individual request; if you do not use the assistant, nothing is transferred. Please do not enter sensitive data (e.g. health, religion).
To prevent abuse, your IP address is kept in memory for up to one hour when you use the assistant to limit the number of requests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
6. Contact by email
If you send an email (e.g. via "Report it"), your address and message are processed to handle the request and deleted once it is done, unless statutory retention obligations apply. The mailbox is hosted by GMX (1&1 Mail & Media GmbH, Montabaur, Germany). The legal basis is the legitimate interest in replying (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
7. No automated decision-making
The match is non-binding guidance and not an automated decision with legal effect within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR.
8. Your rights
You have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21 GDPR). You can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR). Contact the email address above. You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the state or member state of your residence (Art. 77 GDPR).
